DIY Memo Board.

I took a used, excruciatingly boring, memo board and re-vamped it for my office at work. I started off by spray painting the frame with bronze and cut some fabric from Ikea to fit.
I decided to go diagonal with the stripes instead of horizontal. I felt this would add interest.
Finished it off with some black ribbon to hide imperfections.
Ta-da!!
This memo board brought to you by spray adhesive and one stick glue. One Stick has an awesomely fine point- perfect for applying the border ribbon.

I wanted to let you see my $20 Ikea chair in its new home. The tiny throw blanket is from my childhood and was made by my grandmother:)

Prepare To Shed A Tear.

Darby ran too fast to come inside for her dinner (always motivated by food) and tripped over herself on our driveway. Sounds harmless, right??
After 5 hours at the Doggie ER on Tuesday night, we had x-rays showing a break in her toe and a pretty pink temporary cast.  Darby quickly proceeded to chew it to death. A side note about my trip to the animal emergency room: the squaks and squeels from a dying/ injured/ sick parrot are the most horrible sounds I have ever heard!

Now she has a permanent cast. Purple this time. I'm happy that the vet coordinated with the purple flowers on her collar:) The cast is heavy and has to hold her foot in such an awkward position that it is seriously heartbreaking for us to look at! I can't believe that she tripped on nothing and hurt herself this badly!!
The vet mentioned to J that some dogs adjust so well to walking on one leg that they have to re-learn walking on all fours! We'll see how this goes...the cast will be on for a month. I just want her to be healthy again!

A {Finished} Room For Rachel.

Remember my post about Rachel's room? Well, she and her mom have finished decorating and I love the results! They found the bedroom suite for a steal on Craigslist. Love the four poster! I also love the white bedding. Very grown up:)

Mad About Monday

I am angry at my laptop right now...it won't right click and save anything?? wtf. So I am literally mad about that. And I am not writing this on Monday but I assume, since I have better things to do this Sunday than sit here and figure out the issue, that I will still be mad by the time this has posted. In the meantime, here is my chalkboard. Remember? I have spray painted MANY other items red since then and still want to paint more (i.e.: two chairs from the side of the road, three light fixtures, some flower pots, baskets, etc...). To sum it up, red spray paint and I are best friends.

Follow My Link.

This pillow is delightful in style and price. These fabrics are divine. This place proves my theory that all good things come from Australia. This is something I never would have thought to make myself. Laura, can we discuss making this blouse for me?
Today is my last day as a receptionist. Weird.

*Speaking of that, I might be a little less present in blog world for awhile while I transition into my new role.

So have a wonderful weekend! If you are in Jacksonville, we are supposed to have beautiful, springlike weather- hooray!

A New Room For Rachel.

This morning I got a message from Joanne about her daughter Rachel's bedroom. Rachel is 12 and wants her room to be updated in such a way that she will feel comfortable in it until she's 18 or so.

I remember being her age and redecorating my own bedroom over and over again. I went from paiselys & peach roses to periwinkle & white, plaid sheets and a mosquito net. Later, when I was 18, I updated again with matelasse, blue & white Laura Ashley fabrics and blue & white china.  It's funny how often tastes change, especially when you are a girl.

I was excited to hear that Rachel would like zebra print in her new room. Even though they can considered trendy at times, animal prints can always be used and make a wonderful statement in any room. You can play them up or tone them down. {Good choice, Rachel!} She'd like to go the aqua/ turqouise route for paint and I suggested she use a little pink to balance out the room. Here are some inspiration pics from our old friend, Domino.
This picture is why I immediately thought aqua + black + pink.
I also suggested that some gold would be chic for her room, maybe a mirror or some picture frames?
A small chandelier might be sweet, and would definitely be great no matter what age Rachel is!
Happy decorating to Joanne & Rachel!

Fresh Cuts.

See the double bloom? What an amazingly special "mistake."

Good Times.

For Valentine's day, Josh and I did something a little out of the box. He had seen that there would be a rooftop party at the Museum of Science & History *aka: Mosh, complete with dessert, drinks, a jazz band and star gazing. So we went to dinner at the Town Center, stopped into Sephora to get my favorite perfume, and then we headed over to the South Bank. The party at Mosh was really nice and we had free reign of the museum. I would never go there on a typical day...I try to avoid large groups of children...jk ;) The funniest part was that this lady kept walking around with different live animals...random?! We finally found where she was getting them from and I was quite surprised to see this...
Sorry it is blurry but I was cracking up that :

a) there are owls at Mosh (along with an opossum, snakes, and turtles.)

and b) "I Don't Give A Hoot!" *that's for you, Mellissa! haha!

Mad About Monday

I am IN LOVE with the metallic-goodness of these Hunters. Made a good thing GREAT, in my opinion!

Rain, Shmain.

It is nasty and cold outside. I would be fine with this had I dressed appropriately this morning!(I'm in a skirt). I think I am in denial that it is still winter.

What are your plans for this weekend? If you are anywhere on the East Coast I assume the weather is going to be either rainy or snowy for you. Boo on that!

I'll make a trip to Lowe's this evening to grab some soil for seeds I just purchsed and paint for the PRECIOUS dog bed that my hubby made for Darby dog. Speaking of paint I will also help my friend, Amanda, pick colors for two little tables she wants to update. Here are a couple inspiration pics of cute painted tables:

On Sunday I am going to cook what I hope will be a fabulous meal. I scoured the blog world for some recipes that someone like me (completely inept in the kitchen) could handle. This pot pie and these whoopie pies are what I chose. Hopefully both are a hit!

A Valentine's Wreath.

Some friends and I gathered this past Monday to make Valentine's felt wreaths. You may have already checked out Eva's post about this but if not, here is the link. We were inspired by this wreath and this one, too. I loved this craft because all of us really added our own take to it, kind of like we did with the ornament wreaths we made in December.
Cutting felt circles for this took FOREVER. No joke. My hand was in pain afterward!
While Eva and I used circular wreath forms, Amanda and Erika used hearts.
Eva is the most hard core girl I know. She means business when she works on any type of project, and that includes making wreaths! She was practically finished when the rest of us felt like we had just started.
Some Valentine's appropriate red Tom's shoes:)
Heart shaped brownies & powdery lemon squares. The perfect Valentines treats.
Pretty wreaths all in a row! The ones that were all red or pink looked so luscious and velvety! Like rose petals. You can tell that mine (the multicolored one) and Erika's (the heart farthest to the right) weren't finished yet. That's because we took our sweet time!
Eva watched Project Runway while she cut her circles so I thought I would add that I finished my wreath two nights later while watching Lost on the internet. It was a good one but I am not so excited about this season...I won't elaborate on that in case some of you are still catching up:)

Finally my wreath was complete! I totally <3 my bow!
Tying the perfect bow just makes me so extremely happy...easy to please I suppose!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! XOXO

Keep Calm.

Yesterday I was made fun of by this person for saying I would like a "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster for my new office at work. (In case you haven't heard the news, I am moving up into a new position!:) She says that she likens posters with sayings on them to those old "Teamwork" ones with like the crew teams and stuff rowing together on them. Remember those? Well I highly doubt she will make fun of one that says "Blog On", in fact, I have this feeling she will purchase it immediately upon reading this post!
I think I might get "Blog On" for my office at home and "Drink Tea" for my office at work considering I drink hot tea like it's going out of style when I am there. Want a "Keep Calm" that applies specifically to you? Check out this etsy shop.

Captivate.

Here are some lovelies to captivate you this Valentine's week.
Check out Eva's blog today to see what we have been up to in the wreath making department. More of my own pictures soon to come...I am slow still finishing mine!
